New Zealand has some of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world
Sun exposure, cultural attitudes, genetics, and where we live are all contributing factors to skin cancer risk. The South Pacific’s sun, sand, sea and outdoor lifestyle are the envy of the world. Our skin cancer rates however, are not.
The Dermatoscope
The use of a dermatoscope (a polarized microscope) greatly improves the diagnostic accuracy of skin cancer assessments. The images above are taken using a dermatoscope and illustrate how high-resolution, polarised imaging can improve upon the assessment of the naked eye. This is what Rob does for the assessment of your moles.
